International Genetic Technologies, Inc., or “InGen Corporation,” was a genetics company founded by John Hammond, control of which was later taken by Peter Ludlow in 1997. InGen’s actual interests were very different from the ones it displayed in public: they were responsible for the creation of the cloned dinosaurs found on Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna. InGen at first purchased a location in San Diego in which it would showcase its creations, but later abandoned the site in favor of a more desirable location on Isla Nublar, though the dinosaurs had been cloned on Isla Sorna long before; the first animal was brought back from extinction in 1984.

Following the Incident at Isla Nublar,  creative genius Dr. Henry Wu accompanied a return trip to Isla Nublar in November of 1994, to catalogue remaining specimens. Upon discovering that, despite all precautions against it, the dinosaurs were breeding- able to change sex in a single sex environment- due to the inclusion in their genomes of DNA of the common reed frog (Hyperolius viridiflavus), Wu began to show a great interest in genetic hybrid technology. This lead him to publish a book, ‘The Next Step: An Evolution of God’s Concepts’, in 1995. All the while, InGen became ever more desperate to avoid bankruptcy, even attempting to finish the San Diego project in 1997 after Peter Ludlow became CEO- the same year Wu unveiled his world-renowned Wu Flower (Karacosis wutansis), a genetically-modified hybrid plant, to the acclaim of the entire planet.

In 1998, after the death of John Hammond, InGen was purchased and Wu- creator of both the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park as well as the media-acclaimed Wu Flower which had attracted the attention of InGen’s new owner- was placed in charge of operations in terms of genetic recovery by Simon Masrani and Masrani Global. After the Jurassic World Incident in 2015, we are unsure what exactly has happened to Masrani Global or even InGen.
