Xiphactinus sp. (L/M)

Xiphactinus is a genus of large predatory marine fish in the family Ichthyodectidae. It originally lived from 112 to 66 million years ago, during the Albian to Maastrichtian ages of the late Cretaceous period. Fossilized remains have been unearthed mainly in North America, but also Europe, Australia, and South America. Two species, Xiphactinus audax and Xiphactinus vetus, are currently recognized.
