Washington, D.C. (District of Columbia) is the capital city of the USA. It is named after first US President George Washington and discoverer of America Christopher Columbus. Being a federal district, it is technically not part of any U.S. state and is located in the mid-Atlantic region, north of Virginia and south of both Maryland and New York City.
Mark Degler, Ellie Sattler’s husband in 2001, works in Washington D.C. He primarily deals with International Treaty Laws along with imports and exports. In 2001, Dr. Alan Grant was kidnapped and transported to Isla Sorna by Paul and Amanda Kirby to aide in the search for their son, Eric. Grant called Ellie on the satellite phone to get her and her husband to help. Ellie had Mark call in the Navy and the Marines for the rescue of Grant and the Kirby family due to Mark’s D.C. connections.
