The “volunteer boy” was a young lad present at the time Dr. Alan Grant’s paleontological research team was testing a new computer technology that scanned fossil material underground. When Dr. Grant comments how the Velociraptor skeleton they are examining on the computer screen resembles that of a modern bird, the volunteer kid remarks by claiming Dr. Grant is describing a six-foot turkey. Offended by the boy’s lack of respect for Velociraptor, Dr. Grant intimidates the kid by pulling a large raptor toe claw from his pocket and explaining how the creature would hunt.
