Styrofoam (C/N)

Styrofoam is a trademarked brand of closed-cell extruded polystyrene foam used for thermal insulation and craft applications, owned and manufactured by The Dow Chemical Company. In the United States and Canada, “styrofoam” is often incorrectly used as a generic term for expanded polystyrene foam such as disposable coffee cups, coolers, or cushioning material such as packing peanuts; typically, these products are white and made of expanded polystyrene beads. This “generic” styrofoam is distinct from the trademarked Styrofoam brand.

Lewis Dodgson used containers made of styrofoam to hold and transport dinosaur eggs during his expedition to Isla Sorna. These were likely “generic” styrofoam containers rather than the trademarked brand.
