Modern Scientific "Looter" Mentality (C/N)

While Marty Guitierrez was talking with Richard Levine, Marty lamented that science had changed during his lifetime. Scientists no longer came to Costa Rica to study the fauna and flora because they had a passion for it, but because there might be a profit to be made. Since the next drug might come from anywhere, drug companies now funded all sorts of research. Instead of studying the natural world, he lamented that they were instead mining and looting. Anything new or unknown was interesting because it might be worth a fortune if exploited.
