Heckler & Koch VP70M (T/C)

One of the few 9mm handguns in the game, the VP70M is a semi-automatic polymer pistol which fires short, three-round bursts, although this doesn’t seem possible due to the lack of a stock with a selector. This would mean that the in-game weapon is stuck in three-round burst mode.

It has an eighteen-round magazine (meaning six bursts per mag); often, when the player is out of ammunition, Anne will say “Nearly empty,” implying that there are still a few rounds left. This causes players who don’t realize that they’re out of ammo to hear the infamous “Dead Man’s Click” when in combat with an attacker.

It is actually considered one of the weaker weapons in the game, taking two to three bursts (six to nine shots) to the head just to down a “Tribe A” Velociraptor.

The original VP70 was the first polymer-framed pistol, predating the Glock 17 by twelve years. “VP” stands for Vollautomatische Pistole (“Fully-Automatic Pistol”), the designation “70” meaning the year it was first designed, 1970.

One unique feature of the weapon is the aforementioned stock/holster which, when mounted, incorporates a selective-fire mechanism. When not mounted, it can act as a holster.

The barrel-length is 116mm (4.6 in.).
