AMNH 5027 Thread

Come and discuss the subject of science - specifically biology, geology, and related subjects in those fields! The whole forum is dedicated to the actual research that the field of paleontology uncovers about our natural world all the way from the beginning, to now, and hopefully someday even beyond.

AMNH 5027 Thread

Post by Benjenkinsrex »

This thread is dedicated to T.Rex specimen AMNH 5027 currently on display at the natural history museum in New York. This specimen has a special place in JP history as its the skeleton featured on the novel cover and the film logo. Not to mention it was the basis for Rexy herself as the artists at SWS and ILM used drawings of this specimen for reference.

Another fun fact, but Rexy herself is actually based physically on AMNH 5027. Michael Trcic sculpted Rexy's face using a casr of the skull of AMNH 5027 as a base. Rexy is quite literally the face of the franchise. The body was also based on AMNH 5027, which is why Rexy had the dip in her lumbar vertebrae.
