While Dr. Marty Guitierrez was searching, for the lizard that had bitten Tina Bowman, he mused on the possibility of it being a new species. Costa Rica had an amazing diversity of animals,and covered most of the biomes encountered on Earth, allowing for a wide range of diversity. He realized that new species were being discovered all the time in Costa Rica, because many areas of the country were becoming deforested. He believed that this deforestation was causing animals to be driven from the deep forest, where they were discovered for the first time.
