Chicxulub Crater (S/F)

The Chicxulub crater is a massive bolide impact crater located partly on the Yucatán Peninsula and partly in the Gulf of Mexico. It was formed during the Cretaceous-Paleogene mass extinction event roughly 66 million years ago. The crater is about 110 miles (180 kilometers) in diameter and 12 miles (20 kilometers) deep, making it the second-largest impact crater known on Earth at this time.
