A Paradigm Shift is a scientific concept that describes a major shift in the established scientific worldview. Paradigm Shifts usually occur after a major discovery or theory is put forward. These changes occur slowly, however, about once a century. Examples of theories that caused such shifts include Evolution and Quantum Mechanics.
