The ocean barge was a marine vessel that transported the gatherer team composed of Dr. Ian Malcolm, Nick Van Owen, Eddie Carr and, secretly, Kelly Malcolm to the island, Site B. The barge carried all of their equipment to Site B. The group chose the barge in order to not spook dinosaurs due to the noise of an air lift and endanger Dr. Sarah Harding in the process. The captain refused to anchor on shore and said he would not remain at anchor a few miles offshore for long, due to stories about Site B and the disappearance of fishermen.
