Net guns are used by InGen to help them capture the Pteranodons that are loose in southern California in the Devils in the Desert series.
Modifications on the net guns are not specified, but like much of the other InGen equipment in the series it can be assumed that the nets were specifically made to hold the creatures and to be propelled from the cannons at specific speeds to capture the Pteranodons.
