Introduction

After the success of the Jurassic Park toy line as a collective it was decided as a collective by Hasbro to launch a Playskool Jurassic Park toy line with dinosaurs and figures fashioned in the “Super-D”, short for super demented, form. The catch slogan was “thrilling dinosaur adventures…just for preschoolers”. While short lived this line is believed to not have been as successful as the other lines as the Jurassic Park movie series was intended for a PG-13 audience instead of a toddler audience. Children do love their dinosaurs though as the popular saying goes. The Jurassic Park Junior line was a wonderful and fresh addition to the Jurassic Park toy lines.

Human Figures

The set featured no humans singularly in their own packages, but only dinosaurs, vehicles, and humans together in two packs. The humans were not styled after the traditional movie characters seen on film, but in fact “Jurassic Park Rangers” similar to the Dino-Trackers that debuted in the original Jurassic Park Series 2 toy line. In total, eight sets featured the humans with vehicles in them.

Dinosaurs

The dinosaurs in this line were made also similar in fashion to the human figures in their “Super-D” format. The line featured dinosaurs such as Iguanodon, Brachiosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Pteranodon, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Velociraptor, Stegosaurus, Parasaurolophus, and Archaeopteryx. Other prehistoric animals conceptualized, but not produced, includes an Ornithocheirus and Ichthyosaurus.

Vehicles and Playsets

Two electronic playsets were made for the Jurassic Park: Junior line. These two playsets would feature one large vehicle with human figure, and one or two dinosaurs. Two of the big playsets were the “Dinosaur Escape Adventure” and the “Tracking the ‘T-Rex'” set. The JP: Junior line would also feature smaller playsets with smaller vehicles like motorcycles and helicopters that included “Trapping the Dinos”, “Double Trouble Dinos”, “‘Raptor’ Capture”, “Saving the ‘Stego'”, “Terrible ‘Pterry'”, and “Thundering ‘Trike'”
