Ian Malcolm elaborated his theory on human behavior while en route to Isla Nublar. He described a ‘given’ as a concept or object in our society that is taken for granted by most people. He argued that these concepts were so ingrained in human society and thought that it had become impossible to question them. He brought this point up as part of his larger point about how technological and idealogical progress can lead to a mindless acceptance of ‘given’ norms and facts.
