Welcome - Forum Rules

Post by TyrannosaurTJ » Fri Apr 05, 2019 12:53 pm

Welcome to Jurassic-Pedia's forums. This is primarily used to communicate between contributors and the public. We do have some rules, please read through them. Registration here implies you have read and agree to follow the rules presented here in this thread.

The Rules

1. Be kind, be courteous.
We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required. We do not encourage elitist attitudes! Remember the human on the other end of the computer has thoughts, feelings, and aspirations just like you.

2. No Hate Speech and no bullying
Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.

3. Be constructive, open, and mindful
Complaining for the sake of complaining is definitely not welcome as is constant negativity. It's fine not to like something, but don't antagonize others with it.

4. Stay on topic & encourage discussion!
Posts must be tied to the Jurassic Park/World franchise. Make posts that engage members and promote discussion. Discussions of feathered dinosaurs, evolution, and other scientific topics are heavily welcomed here!

Unacceptable Post Types:

Repeated posts - Check and make sure a similar topic of news story hasn't already been posted in the last couple (2-3) days.

Advertising posts - Please get permission first by messaging the moderators and administrators if you wish to advertise a group, page, or even a website.

Download/Torrent posts - Asking how to obtain something for free in the public setting is heavily discouraged. We don't condone piracy of any kind here. Please don't ask others for free downloads of things like the games, movies, and soundtracks.

Political Posts - We would like to keep politics out of the discussion arena here unless there is something that directly impacts the field of study of paleontology and geology and related to the subject of Jurassic Park/World.

Religious/Creationist posts - We believe that your spirituality is important, but this place is definitely not for "spreading the word" of your religion of choice or recruiting others. We also do not accept any form of Young Earth Creationism or Intelligent Design posts here either.

Fight/Versus Discussion Posts - While the topic of dinosaur fights in the series isn't discouraged altogether what is discouraged is the circular arguments of "who would win?" that are emotionally driven or often pushing for a rematch petition of a certain fight from the third film. The Spinosaurus versus Tyrannosaurus fight from the third film still retains an element of toxicity in the fandom that devolves into people flinging insults and is very much still a reason to avoid the topic of this particular fight to this day altogether.

Dinosaurs and prehistoric animals are not monsters to be pit in death battles with each other. They were animals and behaved like animals. The subject of strategy for some of the Jurassic Park/World games like Jurassic Park Builder, Jurassic World: The Game, and even Jurassic World Alive involving the battles are acceptable lines of conversation as well. That is a game play component and the discussion is helpful for improving game play strategy.

If posting images, please make sure they do not exceed 800 by 600 pixels as it distorts the page and is distracting. Best thing is to provide a link to the bigger image by clicking on a thumbnail of that image. The code should look like this:

Code: Select all

Avatar and Signature Rules:

Avatar Guidelines:
Please keep images no larger than 200 by 200 pixels.

Signature Guidelines:
Images cannot exceed 500 by 400. Please keep it simple.

With your cooperation and help it is our hope we can make everybody's forum experience here great, fun, and fulfilling.
